Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Books
Surprise! This week’s Can’t Miss pick in Books is “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” There are no advanced reviews, because anybody who is caught with a copy before the release date of July 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET will be mobbed by angry adolescents who at this moment are already forming queues outside book stores that are longer than the ones for the iPhone, Wii and the last “Star Wars” installment combined. J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, insists this is the last one, so there is a dangerous mixture of anticipation and dread in the air. You take a massively popular series of books about witchcraft, combine it with hordes of demanding kids, set a sudden release date and then tell everybody there will be no more stories like it and you can see why Can’t Miss might put “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” as its weekly selection. I’m close enough to the situation to know what’s good for me, but I’m also far enough away not to get trampled. (Scholastic, Inc.)
